Germany
Reocupation of the Rhineland
After defying the Treaty of Versailles on numerous occasions, Hitler finally took one of his biggest steps by reocupying the Rhineland, something that was agreed not to happen in the Locarno Pact. This act showed that the rest of Europe was prepared to allow Hitler to do what he wanted, they were excersizing non-intervention.

Italy
Formation of the Axis
With tensions rising between countries in Europe, everybody was looking for allies. Italy (Mussolini) decided to do the logic thing by joining up with what seemed to be the most powerful country at the time (and it didn't hurt that they were both facist dictatorships). The Axis wasn't an alliance, but it was close enough to raise more fear in the rest of Europe.

Britain
Appeasment
This policy pretty much said that Germany could get what ever they wanted if it meant that another war could be avoided.

Spain
Spanish Civil War
After swinging back and forth between political ideologies and parties, civil war between the Natinalists and the Republicans broke out. The Nationalists, lead by Francisco Franco, wanted more power for the army and church while the Republicans wanted a more left wing government. The Natinalists, with aid from Germany and Italy, won over the Republicans, who were supported by the USSR. Franco ruled as a fascist dictator until 1975.
