The Lusitania, a British liner carrying 124 Americans (among others), was sunk by two German missiles in neutral waters. This act angered the Americans and pushed American sympathy to the Triple Entente. |

The battle of Gallipoli was an attempt made by British troops during WWI to clear a path through Turkish troops to the Black Sea. This would open a new front against Germany and a way to supply Russia. |
