USSR/USA
U2 incident
A U2 is an American spy plane that was developed to fly high over enemy teritory (too high for missiles to shoot it down) and take pictures and do other sneaky spy type stuff. The USSR finally managed to shoot one down and find out it's purpose. This incident caused Kruschev to refuse to attend a summit conference with president Eisenhower.

Europe
EFTA
The EFTA (European Free Trade Association) was Britain's answer to the EEC, which they weren't allowed to join because of their involvement with the US. The basis of this idea was that tariffs between the members, which were Austria, Denmark, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and Britain, were to be taken down in ten years. The EFTA was not as succesful as the EEC.
