The Great Leap Forward
After the failure of China's five-year plans, Mao tried agian to industrialize China with the Great Leap Forward. In this plan, China was to "walk on two legs". These two legs were industry and scientific activity and human muscles and ingenuity, which meant huge farmer communes which were practically cities.
